Oliver Sacks was a British neurologist and historian of science. He is best known as the author of numerous collections of case studies of people with neurological disorders. “Awakenings” was adapted into an Academy Award-nominated film, the introductory story of “The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat” into a Michael Nyman opera, and “Musicophilia” became a subject of an episode of the PBS series “Nova.”
