A life-long educator, he avoided including personal computers in school and became one of the pioneers of media ecology theory, the study of how modern technology affects human environments. He is best known for his books on technology and education, including “Amusing Ourselves to Death,” “Technopoly,” and “The End of Education.” He died in 2003.
