He last served as the commander of the United States Special Operations Command (2011 – 2014), and before that, he served for three years as the Commander of Joint Special Operations Command. The author of two books – “Spec Ops” and “Make Your Bed” – he was portrayed by Christopher Stanley in the award-winning movie “Zero Dark Thirty.”
