Elizabeth Blackburn is an Australian-American biochemist and molecular biologist. In 2009, she became the first Australian woman Nobel laureate when she shared the Nobel Prize in medicine with Carol Greider and Jack W. Szostak for her contributions to the discovery of telomerase and its role in maintaining the telomere. Cowritten with Dr. Elissa Epel and published in 2017, “The Telomere Effect” was Blackburn’s debut book.
