Edward Snowden

Edward Joseph Snowden is, arguably, the most important whistleblower in recent American history. Born into a family of government clerks, he became a contractor for the CIA and the NSA in his early 20s. Burdened with ethical concerns over his involvement in programs of mass surveillance, in June 2013, he revealed them to the public. He has been living in exile in Russia ever since.
