David Halberstam was an American writer, journalist and historian. A versatile author and meticulous researcher, he authored more than 20 books on diverse subjects such as the civil rights movement, the auto industry, media and sports. In 1964, he received the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting for his probing and eye-opening coverage of the Vietnam War as a staff reporter for The New York Times.
