Alex Bellos is a British writer, broadcaster, and mathematics communicator who writes a column for The Guardian. He studied mathematics and philosophy at Corpus Christi College, Oxford, where he also edited the student paper Cherwell. He ghostwrote the UK number one best-seller Pelé: The Autobiography in 2006 and authored Futebol: the Brazilian Way of Life. His 2010 book Alex's Adventures in Numberland spent four months in The Sunday Times top ten, was shortlisted for the BBC Samuel Johnson Prize, and its Italian translation won both the €10,000 Galileo Prize and the 2011 Peano Prize.
